Covering up is the simplest sun protection there is, and the right sun shirt makes it easy to do in the heat. Everything on this page is made from UPF 50+ fabric, so the protection is in the cloth rather than something you reapply.
SolarShield+ tops. The long sleeve and short sleeve tees and the half zips use SolarShield+, a grid-textured jersey that absorbs and reflects UV rays and blocks 98% of UVA and UVB, wet or dry. It's accredited by the British Skin Foundation, wicks moisture away from your skin, and weighs between 110 and 192 grams, so it works as a light base layer on hot days.
Long sleeve shirts. The NosiLife Adventure, NosiLife Pro and Kiwi II Long Sleeved shirts are button-up shirts with roll-up sleeves and a collar that turns up to cover the back of your neck. The Adventure and Pro add vents to keep air moving.
Hats. The Outback Hat II and Desert Hat III are UPF 50+ as well. The Desert Hat's neck flap zips up and rolls away when you don't need it. See all sun hats.
Most of the range also has NosiLife, a plant-based insect repellent built into the fabric that lasts the lifetime of the garment. The Kiwi II shirts use NosiDefence instead: no repellent, just a tight weave that mosquitoes can't bite through. Browse all insect repellent clothing, or what to pack for a safari.
Which one? Pick SolarShield+ for the lightest cover in the heat. Pick an Adventure or Pro shirt for pockets, a collar and sleeves you can roll up. For shirts chosen for the trail first, see hiking shirts.
